Gopal Subramanium is a committed supporter of mental health causes and research. Under the ever-changing realities of life, he believes mental health is universal and impartial – harm can strike anyone, no matter their status or condition.
As a result, Gopal sympathises with the pursuits and ambitions of the international psychiatric community, and agrees with their advocacy for openness and transparency across mental health. No cliché will work in mental health – claims and certainty have to be qualified.
In a similar vein, Subramanium suggests cures for mental health conditions – due to the sheer complexity of the brain – will continue to evolve and will always have to be reconsidered. Moreover, given the fragmentation across medical research, in his opinion, studies and their respective academics have to be brought together to establish a common ground of objective knowledge. Of course, that also applies to the language – and indeed linguistic framework – used to describe and assess mental health conditions.
In the video below, Subramanium expands further.
